Andromeda was the daughter of Cepheus, the king of Aethiopia, and Cassiopeia, the queen. Cassiopeia was a beautiful woman who was very proud of her looks. One day, she boasted that she was more beautiful than the Nereids, the sea nymphs. The Nereids were angry at Cassiopeia's boast, and they asked Poseidon, the god of the sea, to punish her. Poseidon sent a sea monster to ravage Aethiopia.
Cepheus and Cassiopeia were desperate. They consulted the oracle at Delphi, and the oracle told them that the only way to save their kingdom was to sacrifice Andromeda to the sea monster. Cepheus and Cassiopeia were heartbroken, but they knew that they had no choice. They chained Andromeda to a rock and left her to die.
Perseus was flying over Aethiopia when he saw Andromeda chained to the rock. He was immediately smitten with her beauty, and he knew that he had to save her. Perseus landed on the rock and drew his sword. He fought the sea monster and eventually killed it. Andromeda was free, and she was so grateful to Perseus that she agreed to marry him.
Perseus and Andromeda were married and had many children. They lived happily ever after.
