Robert Graves

Robert Graves was born in 1895 in Wimbledon, London, England. He was the son of a poet, and he began writing poetry at a young age. In 1914, he joined the army and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Royal Welch Fusiliers. He fought in the Battle of the Somme in 1916, and was wounded in action. He was discharged from the army in 1918, and he continued to write poetry and novels.

Graves was a prolific and successful writer, and he is considered one of the most important literary figures of the 20th century. He died in 1985.
