In the summer of 2022, I embarked on an epic road trip from my home in North Wales to the Canary Island of Tenerife. I decided to make the journey in a classic car, a 1965 Ford Mustang, to add an extra touch of adventure to the experience.

The journey was long and arduous, but it was also incredibly rewarding. I drove through some of the most stunning scenery Europe has to offer, and I met some amazing people along the way. I also learned a lot about myself and my car.

Planning the Journey

The first step in planning my journey was to choose a route. I wanted to take a route that would allow me to see as much of Europe as possible, so I decided to drive through France, Spain, and Portugal before catching a ferry to Tenerife.

Once I had chosen a route, I started to plan my accommodation and activities. I booked a few hotels in advance, but I also left some flexibility in my itinerary so that I could explore off the beaten path.

I also made sure to have my car serviced before the journey and to pack a spare tire and tools. I also purchased travel insurance in case of any unexpected events.

The Journey

I set off from North Wales on a sunny morning in July. The first leg of my journey was a drive through the English countryside. I stopped off at a few villages and towns along the way, and I enjoyed the stunning scenery.

I crossed the English Channel into France and continued my journey south. I drove through the Normandy countryside, and I visited the D-Day beaches. I also stopped off in Paris, where I spent a few days exploring the city.

From Paris, I drove through the Pyrenees Mountains into Spain. I stopped off in Barcelona, where I spent a few days exploring the city. I also drove through the Rioja wine region, and I visited a few wineries.

From Spain, I drove into Portugal. I stopped off in Lisbon, where I spent a few days exploring the city. I also drove through the Algarve region, and I visited a few beaches.

From Portugal, I caught a ferry to Tenerife. The ferry crossing took about two days, and I enjoyed the opportunity to relax and reflect on my journey.

Tenerife

I arrived in Tenerife and was immediately struck by the beauty of the island. I spent a few days exploring the island, and I visited some of the most popular tourist attractions, including Mount Teide, the Loro Parque zoo, and the Siam Park water park.

I also took some time to relax on the beaches, and I enjoyed the warm weather and crystal-clear waters.

The Return Journey

After a few weeks in Tenerife, it was time to start the return journey. I caught a ferry back to Portugal, and I drove back through Spain and France before crossing the English Channel back into England.

The return journey was just as enjoyable as the outward journey, and I was sad to see it come to an end. I had an amazing time on my road trip, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an adventure.

Tips for Planning a Similar Journey

If you are planning a similar journey, here are a few tips:

• Choose a route that will allow you to see as much of Europe as possible.
• Book your accommodation and activities in advance, but also leave some flexibility in your itinerary so that you can explore off the beaten path.
